November: What I'm Thankful For
If anyone loves holidays that give us all an excuse to get together with our closest friends and family as much as I do, they will completely understand the happiness that warms my soul when it’s NOVEMBER!
I’d love to share the things I’m grateful for this year and how I’m giving back to the community I live in.
This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for my ever-supportive family and husband. I’m grateful for the new friendships I’ve formed with the most incredible people, and the old friendships that have lasted double digit years.
Last but certainly not least… I’m grateful for you, my clients turned friends. Your unwavering passion for beautifully well-made, simple clothing; your sweet thank you notes and phone calls and visits filled with excitement after you’ve worn a KF garment; your referrals that stretch to as far as Texas and Colorado; your trust and your time…and for believing in my mission of filling in the gap of well-made, timeless clothing in the world of fast and edgy fashion.
THANK YOU!
When I’m not working or at home spending time with my husband and dog, Tucker, you can probably find me volunteering. Growing up, I always loved being a part of something bigger than something I wanted for myself. I spent countless hours volunteering with various organizations from middle school through early high school, took a quick break and jumped back in post-college. Volunteering is something that makes you feel whole and great about your time spent. I’d love to share with you the three main organizations I’ve been spending time with lately…
The Waverly Project
The Waverly Project was founded by one of my closest and dearest friends, Molly Wills – a fashion guru turned girl power founder. Molly always had a vision of helping young girls turn into fine young women through her organization’s Empowerment Tours (high school) and Waverly Workshops (elementary through middle school). Her Empowerment Tours give high school girls the opportunity to meet and talk with women mentors from small businesses (such as myself!) to large corporations such as Google! These include one-of-a-kind experiences when visiting these businesses. Waverly Workshops are filled with DIY projects in science, fashion and wellness. Currently, I am on the committee of planning for the inaugural Waverly Empower Conference coming June 26th, 2019 at Belle Haven Club.Come by the Boutique December 5th for their Holiday Boutique to support The Waverly Project and learn more!
Greenwich Hospital Under the Stars Benefit
Our local hospital has been making a difference in our community for as long as I can remember and it’s amazing to see how our support for the Hospital has helped them improve every day. I’ve been involved with the Greenwich Hospital Foundation for about 3 years now, and this year I was asked to co-chair the Under the Stars Benefit which supports Women and Children’s health. Our community’s dedication to help the women and children’s department at the hospital is incredible, and there are still goals that we hope to reach. The Under the Stars Benefit is an evening event that will be at Riverside Yacht Club – a concert and seated dinner with an open bar…surely a fun night to remember and all for a great cause. Save the Date: May 17th, 2019 at Riverside Yacht Club!
Bruce Museum
Many of you know that I absolutely adore this gem of a place in Greenwich. We are SO lucky to have the Bruce Museum as our local museum. I grew up taking art classes at the Museum, then volunteering at their festivals and in their museum store as a high schooler, and then about 6 years ago joined their planning committee for the Bruce Gala. This year I had the opportunity to co-chair their Gala, and next year, three lovely ladies to whom I have grown close will be chairing and I can’t wait to see what they come up with!! (Shout out to Erin, Olivia and Amanda!)
Save the Date: May 11th 2019 at Belle Haven Club.
Lately, I’ve been involved with their planning committee for the Bruce Contemporaries – a newly formed group of Under-45 individuals who will have the opportunity to attend one-of-a-kind events and exhibitions, through a Bruce Contemporaries Membership. For more info, email info@katiefong.com!
If you’re interested in getting involved and giving back, please feel free to reach out to me!! I’d love to answer questions you may have or share my experiences with you. We wish you a wonderful start to your holiday season and hope you come by the Boutique to say hi soon!
